Wild Scottish Adventure Lesbian Elopement Shoot on the Isle of Skye

Ideas

I wanted to save these incredibly beautiful images to share with you today, at the start of pride month, in homage to the LGBTQIA+ community and all queer couples who arrive at Love My Dress seeking wedding inspiration.

These beautiful images, featuring real lesbian couple, Sarah + Rachael, founders of Rainbow Certified – a gorgeous online shop selling beautiful, fun and uplifting apparel for the queer community, were taken by talented Scottish wedding photographer, Meggy Mac.

“This shoot was part styled, part a real declaration of love and what Sarah and Rachael stand for.”

“The couple, Sarah and Rachael, contacted me as they were going to be in Skye for a little road trip and wanted to dress up and create something cool while they were in the area.”

“Strong LGBTQ+ advocates, Sarah is from Canada and Rachael is from England, and the couple (and myself) were getting tired of seeing model couples for same-sex styled shoots who weren’t actually from that community, or seeing a lack of representation in the wedding industry in general.”

“Because of this, I wanted the shoot to be paired back and really just to be a complete showcase of their love, and without any showiness or big fancy frills.”

“Due to Covid restrictions, the elopement scene in Scotland is booming right now, so I wanted to showcase the possibilities of where you could actually get married or do your adventure elopement in the wildest of settings.”

“Sarah and Rachael are also big on travel and adventures, having met while snowboarding in Canada, so to do the shoot in some of Skye’s most adventurous and remote spots seemed like the perfect location to represent their love.”

“I wanted to really show brides what is possible in the age of Covid – you don’t have to have masses of people, or big fancy, expensive days.”

“It can also just be you two and an awesome landscape – what better backdrop for your day is there than that?”

“To highlight the stripped back, budget elopements possible, the dresses are from ASOS boutique. The flowers and head crown are by Scottish florist, BBonnie Flowers.”
