Pampas Grass in the Snow: A Rustic Winter Wedding in the Telluride Mountains

Planning

Colorado Wedding in a Blizzard

From a large winter wedding to an intimate ceremony in a Telluride blizzard- this wedding day is one for adventurers. Like most 2020 couples, Chandler + Andrew had to make a decision: postpone their wedding, or reduce guest list and find a totally new venue to host their day. With the help of K2 Event Co, they chose the latter, and it turned out to be one of the most magical Winter Wonderland weddings! They embraced the cozy and rustic vibes of their venue, Telluride Sleighs and Wagons, and brought in tons of exotic flowers to amp up the glam. C shares:

When we originally began planning our wedding we had no clue we would be impacted by Covid. 2020 had different plans but it turned out to be such a blessing. During a meeting to discuss potential plan B’s and C’s, our planner asked what our ultimate goal was. We of course said we just want to be married! Plan B and C included a significant drop in the guest count and a venue change. While it wasn’t our original plan, it turned out to be so much better! Our wedding day was so intimate and romantic.

Jason and Daris Photography braved the snow and turned out with some truly gorgeous shots. Let’s take a look!

A Bohemian Ceremony in the Snow

Dahlia Floral Design wow’d with not one ceremony arch, but TWO! The first was tall and grand with loads of greenery, while the second featured curly willow branches and lots of fluffy pampas grass.

Not sure if we’ve seen pampas in the snow before, but one thing’s for sure- we LOVE it!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Andrew – first look, sleigh ride, I do’s!

Chandler – I loved all the moments we got to be alone together before the ceremony. Our first look was so special as was driving up to Telluride Sleighs and Wagons.

C looked like the perfect Winter bride in her Alon Livne gown from Mia Bridal Couture. She paired it with a bridal jacket from Elaine Kim, Two Skirts Telluride. Major applause to Moxie Loft hair and Erin Cain makeup for creating beauty looks that lasted through a Winter storm! How did C find such a perfect gown? It seems mom always knows best:

My mom, Matron of Honor, and a few other family members were there and were pulling things they wanted to see me in. I started trying on and they were beautiful but they weren’t quite “the one”. My mom came in with a dress and I was unsure but tried it anyway…mother’s intuitions are always right because that was the one! We went to our other appointments just to see, but I couldn’t get my mind off the Alon Livne. We went back that afternoon and purchased it!
