When an Artist Bride Designs Her Own Colorful Paper Goods for Her Modern Art Wedding Day

Modern Los Angeles Wedding

Dreamy modern art wedding inspiration is here for the creative couples out there! Art is a huge part of Stephanie + Nate’s story, so naturally, they styled their wedding day at Forme Los Angeles after all things expressive. With bold, geometric color blocking, sculptural floral arrangements, tables named after artists, and most importantly- invitations and signage designed by the artist bride herself! To make their modern art wedding day a success, the couple hired planners Fawn Events to help them blend their bohemian style into the day’s overall theme. S shares more about the look and feel of the day:

We fell in love through art. Like a classic millennial story, Nate “slid in the DMs” and hired me to create a few art pieces for him. To honor our beginning, we placed subtle touches of art throughout our entire journey: illustrations for our invitations, famous artists as the table names, an interactive painting that doubled as a guestbook, and organic shapes and elements through dried florals.

Their whole love story started around S’s art, Velvet and Gold, so it’s exciting to see her work shine in these adorable invitations. Working with paper goods, S knows how much they set the stage for the rest of the wedding, so she wanted to make a great first impression and we think she nailed it!

Pink Orange Bridesmaid Dresses

Bridesmaids in sunset hues from David’s Bridal, Lulu’s, and Nordstrom brought exciting color to the day. The ladies were looking gorgeous in flowy waves and fresh-faced makeup by Kelly Zhang.

The Story of the Perfect Wedding Dress

Enzoani Wedding Dress

Leave it to Enzoani to create magic in a wedding dress! S topped it off with a celestial bridal crown by BatcakesCouture. The dress story is too good not to share, so we’ll leave it to S:

It all started at an event I did with La Soie. While I wasn’t looking, Nate secretly coordinated with the ladies for a spur-of-the-moment “fashion show.” The girls randomly suggested that I try on some wedding dresses-you know, just for “fun.” The real story? Nate told them that he was planning to propose soon and he wanted me to get a preview of choosing a wedding dress! Here I was, twirling away in dresses with glee. And there was Nate, starting to get silent and emotional while I became increasingly confused. Hindsight, it all made sense! Post-proposal: I went back to La Soie for the real thing. I remembered the dresses I tried on before, so I went with my first choice: form-fitting, sleek, and perfect. I was ready to walk out with it! Then, came the one that changed it all: form-fitting and modern on the top, but a full-blown skirt at the bottom. I never thought I’d choose it, but once I put it on, we all saw the day play out in this magical dress.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

As most will say, the wedding day flies by. It was when we sat down at our reception that we got to slow down and take in all the love present in the room. It was the first time our worlds collided, and it was glorious to behold everyone in one space. We realized that it was the only time in history this group of people would ever be in the same room, so it meant so much to us. Getting to dance with everyone at the end was definitely something we’ll always remember!

Karina’s Cake House created the sweet treats for the day and they look scrumptious!

Signature Party Rentals provided the furniture and table top rentals for the reception. We love how S kept things muted and neutral, to really let the colorful art signs and bright bridesmaids dresses bring the pops of color.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Carve out moments to enjoy your engagement season! Try to have fun away from wedding planning and know that no wedding will be perfect so you’ve got to be flexible. Ask yourselves “What’s TRULY important for us?” Then, the rest becomes trivial and its easier to make decisions.

When choosing your vendors, try to see how they communicate before hiring them. It’s so important to find people you can trust and mesh well with since you’ll be working with them often up until your big day. Having our incredible team of vendors made us feel so supported and relieved a lot of our stress.

S + N sum things up perfectly with their final piece of advice:

A good friend once told us “Your wedding is a decorated doorway to the real thing: marriage.”
When we were stressed about planning, it helped us to refocus. As perfect as we hoped our wedding would be, it helped us to remember that marriage is where the deep, life-long efforts matter. We can say that we love each other even more now than we did on our wedding day.
