A Minimalist Wedding at a Botanical + Industrial Venue in New York City

Planning

Modern New York City Wedding

When the bride is a fashion designer, you know the wedding day is going to be full of style! Laura + Sam had the vision of mixing an industrial venue with classic + romantic vibes. Their love story began and blossomed in and around the boroughs of Queens and Manhattan, so they knew they wanted a venue close to that area, that captures the best of the city. They found a total gem in The Foundry! L put her design skills to good use and brought in a stunning babies breath ceremony design, sleek rentals and pops of fun color. She shares:

I had a vision of adding a modern vibe with minimalistic decor/design to the venue. I wanted the floral decorations to be edgy in shapes with hints of bold pop colors mixed in with super-soft pastels. Roses, anthuriums, bunny tails, baby’s breath, and dried/colored leaves have always been my favorites. Since we didn’t hire an event coordinator, creating mood boards, selecting rentals, designing paper goods, and planning the floor plan & agenda all became our responsibilities.. which I actually enjoyed!

Tom Leung Photography was there to capture every detail. Scroll along with us and let’s take a look!

Industrial Venue Space

Finding an industrial venue with loads of character isn’t always easy. However, L + S found the PERFECT venue in the Foundry. Just wait until you see the botanical elements in the ceremony space. L shared more about how they knew it was the perfect place to say “I do”!

We wanted to find a location in Queens, but somewhere close to Manhattan since Queens is where we met and grew up together. We shared most of our memories in both boroughs. I’ve had my eyes set on the Foundry LIC for a long time way before we decided to have a wedding. That venue is so beautiful and the location/size was just perfect – it feels so raw and industrial, yet romantic.

Sleek Bridal Style

There’s something about a chic, form-fitting gown and an industrial venue that just feels right!! L’s wedding dress and veil are both from Alexandra Grecco. She made the look complete with Nicholas Kirkwood shoes. If you’re searching for a similar silhouette, check out our favorite sheath and silk crepe selections:

L designs for Ralph Lauren, so it’s only fitting that S sported attire from the brand on wedding day!

Minimalist Ceremony Decor

Modern New York City Wedding

Isn’t this the DREAMIEST industrial venue space?? The vines growing along the wall and beams gives it an age-worn, old world feel. L + S balanced that with a super modern babies breath installation and crisp white chairs.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Every moment was memorable. Sam and I were both very anxious the night before. We barely got any sleep, but everything went so smoothly and we couldn’t have asked our wedding day to be any better than how it turned out. We got so many compliments from our guests. It was perfect. The highlight of the day happened all on the dance floor.. it was good to see our friends and families letting loose and enjoying the night.

Modern Wedding Reception

L + S designed the reception space to be very simple and sleek with pops of bold color. Broadway Party Rentals provided rentals for the day to match the minimal aesthetic and clean lines of the space.

Flowers with unique lines and sculptural shapes are super trendy right now. These minimalist designs allow the flowers to have their moment in the spotlight and almost act as living art for the guest tables.

Bold red and soft lavender is such a unique color combo and really pops against a neutral space!

Nothing adds romance to a space like lighting and candles. Universal Light & Sound provided all of the lighting for wedding day.

Less is definitely more when it comes to this Pensa wedding cake. A simple and clean two tier cake with just a couple of styled flower accents is perfection for this wedding day!
