This Florist Bride Was Inspired by the Sunset for Her Backyard Wedding Decor

Intimate Backyard Wedding in Washington

Wanting to get married at home but not sure how to design the perfect backyard wedding decor? Follow the lead of Carlee + Scott and look to nature for inspiration! C works as a florist and wanted their day to reflect on her passions, the couple’s adventures, and their eclectic sense of style. With the help of planners, The Greatest Adventure Weddings, they created a color palette of earthy, Autumn hues and warm sunset colors. A first look by the lake, a wooded ceremony and a tented outdoor reception all featured dried flowers and a mix of vintage rugs, woven baskets and wooden materials. Though it wasn’t their Plan A, C says it was still perfection:

Our original guest list was 200 people, and final list included immediate family, bridal party and our friendors. Looking back, we both admit that an intimate wedding was right for us all along. As we continue to move through the pandemic, I hope our wedding can serve as a good example to GWS followers of what a small intimate wedding can look and feel like. With a smaller guest count, you can use more budget on details, have more time with all of your loved ones, and focus on the little things that truly matter.

The Foxes Photography was there to capture these gorgeous images. Ready to be inspired? Let’s go!

rustic floral arches

You’d expect a florist bride to have fabulous flowers for her wedding, and C and her Rusted Vase Floral Co. team did not disappoint!!

Details wise, I knew that I wanted our wedding to reflect not only us as couple, but my brand as a florist too. Our sunset color palette (with a pop of blue) combined with our personal touches and decor, made our wedding feel elegant while still representing our eclectic style. Mismatched rugs, specialty furniture rentals and hanging baskets (many collected during our travels) helped to make our wedding feel inviting but detailed at the same time.

Being a vendor, the questions I was asked most were “are you doing your own flowers?” and “how did you choose your vendors?” The first question “are you doing your own flowers?” was a bit harder, my answer was always the same, “yes and no”. It was really important to me that our flowers felt like me, and I couldn’t imagine not having my hands on a few things, but I am not totally crazy, so I didn’t do any sort of set up day of. My incredible team did some design work leading up to our day and also lead styling and set up day of.
